I'd just use hard drive letters to X Y Z if needed, and never use them, never point anything towards them, should be fine.
I recall a utility I used previously, that allowed you to hide drive letters from explorer, also, was simply of matter of clicking check boxes next to letters, forget which one though. |

Mate so easy get Partition Wizard Best Free Partition Manager Freeware and free partition magic for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. MiniTool Free Partition Manager Software Home Edition.
open it right click on the partition you want nameless (I don't know if it will do it with the boot drive - but) click on Change letter - the box will tell you the current letter and None will be in the box just hit OK and the letter will be gone. To give it a name again reverse the process only it will open with a default letter leave it at that if you like or you can pick what letter is available and then OK ![]() PS you cannot do that with the boot drive letter |
