I had this same problem once when I had to keep pressing the On switch. My PSU failed, destroying my two DVD burners, and I immediately started getting BSODs that pointed to a corrupted BIOS. After I got a new PSU, I tried to clear the BIOS and update it, but my mobo maker's update software would not work because it already had the latest version. A new BIOS chip cost more than a new motherboard.
