    Windows Seven helps reduce overheating?

Now we all know windows Seven is awesome and even includes the kitchen sink, but I've noticed that it also seems to help prevent my computer from overheating. My cheapo laptop has horrible cooling apparently. In Ubuntu, Vista, and previous builds of Seven, my laptop would often shut down due to high internal temperatures. For some reason though, my laptop has not shut down due to overheating a single time since I installed the beta, even when doing intense activities. Anyone else notice anything like this? I don't know if it's really the beta build, but its awesome for me :P

That was there intent in this new windows was to design a windows that will be able to know your using a laptop. And that it will set it up to run everything the way it needs to keep it cool and optimized..You also should see a big difference in the battery life as well..

Seven seems more efficient in some regards. That means less power usage and thus cooler temps. Have seen some other threads where CPUs where running cooler.

Definitely better battery life. I couldn't even finish a two hour lecture class with the pessimal battery life of my laptop in previous builds, let alone vista. And that was in Power Saver mode. Now I can outlast the entire lecture in balanced. Awesomeness.

No worries. One of the Mods will move it if they think necessary.

my toshiba laptops used continuously require a laptop cooler during the summer months especially where i am. cooling unfortunately is not their long suite. i missed that one, but you are right, have not tried any of my monitoring programs yet but to the hand, unit is cooler, especially that hot spot left side of the touchpad. good observation poster.

My CPU runs 4 to 6 degrees C cooler in 7 than it does in Vista. Lets me run my case fans at 25%.

I would agree to most of the observations with Windows 7 performance. I noticed that it handles multicore processes more efficiently than vista thus reducing process time thus reducing temp.

Over-all this is a good beta OS. Let's just hope when the final build comes out, it will stay that way or be much better.

Hehe, Microsoft said they have some features built into the code which aren't activated in the beta, just as the new Taskbar wasn't enabled by default in build 6801. I'm curious as to what said features may be.
