Windows 7 shuts down monitor after about 30 minutes

Windows 7 shuts down monitor after about 30 minutes when not in use.
    A) I do not have a screen saver or use blank
    B) In power management I have selected Balanced (recommended) and
B1) I have set Turn of display to NEVER
B2) I have set Put the computer to sleep to NEVER

So why is it insisting to turn my display off until I move the mouse. This is silly.

When you look at your settings, does it still say Never for turning off the display?

Are you definitely clicking "Change plan settings" for the power plan that you currently have selected?

Geez. Sorry. I'm not a psychic. Look at it from my perspective: I don't know anything about you. The last time I assumed someone knew a certain amount, I ended up having to spend even more of my time and their time going back and explaining everything. This takes far less time, but it does offend some people as it did you. That's just the chance I prefer to take.

In other words: I'm only trying to help you. I have nothing but good intentions here.

Try changing from "Balanced" to "high performance". I believe the 30 minute screen shut down is part of the "balanced" power plan.

Can I ask does it turn off just the display or it goes off completely. The display going off might not be a power saving problem. Check if the laptop gets overheated around the graphics card area. A wrongful driver might cause the card to overheat...and the laptop can switch off that device for security. Check the bios properties for these settings I am sure there was something there about heat and turn off....you are an IT guy so you know what I mean
