    Compressed (zipped) folder problem?

When I right-click a 13.2 MB MP3 file and send it to a compressed (zipped) folder, the compressed folder is 13.1 MB--pretty much the same size as the original document. Shouldn't there be more compression that takes place? I get the same results when I create a compressed folder on the desktop and drag files to it.

Similarly, when I create a compressed file on the desktop and drag a 4.11 MG PDF file, a 1.89 MG jpg file, and a 936 KB .doc file to it, the .zip file is 6.87 MG with the full-file sizes totaling 6.936 MB.

What, then, is the point of sending a file to a compressed folder? Shouldn't there be more compression? How do I ensure that this feature is working correctly?

    Thanks.

For as long as I can remember, this is the way it has always been. So for that reason, I switched to third-party programs such as WinRAR so that I can choose a much better compression.

Another option I recommend is 7zip

MP3 files area already compressed. Not much you can do to make them smaller.

Same goes with images, attempting to add images, music or videos to a compressed format like zip, you will not see much improvement if any.

For most other file types, you can throw those into a 7z file or zip file and see good results.
