Infinite Startup Repair Loop - Windows 7 64 bit Laptop
Hello! My problem is easy to explain but not easy to deal with. Yesterday, I'd come home from doing things and turned on my laptop to find a Black Screen with a simple non-blinking mouse cursor on it. (Movable cursor but unable to click anything)
So I was confused as to why it'd happened but I looked on the internet and found The Black Screen of Death for Windows 7 computers. Now at this point I was freaking out because I thought there was no solutions out there to fix this. However, people had suggested quite a few different methods to fix this, which I tried to no avail. Nothing different. However, only one stood out using The advanced options screen by pressing F8 rapidly at the loading screen. Going through those options I found "Startup repair". Believing this to be my hope of restoring my laptop to its usual self I clicked on it and it began. The repair went on and on... FOR FOURTEEN hours straight, constantly restarting my laptop only to have the repair start up again! If I try to cancel it or to press the X button and close it it simply states that the operation cannot be closed or something similar.
I've tried so many things after this; trying to go back to the advanced options screen which produced a high pitched whining sound for the length of the press, and many other "solutions."
After so many tries, I've become fed up with trying to fix this myself. Please help! I really need to fix this because the next college semester is coming up!!!
Simple specs:
- Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Laptop
- Gateway Laptop (Unfortunately I don't remember the Coded name right now)
Could it be a problem with the registry? Video card graphics? a VIRUS???
Do I have to reinstall windows 7 somehow? Is there a way to keep my files if I have to reinstall it? Do I have to buy myself a new laptop or desktop?
Video or pictures can be provided if required. Thanks so much in advance! This is my last hope!
