Need help with identifying hard drives

    Need help with identifying hard drives


    can someone please explain what drives 1 and 2 are?? i believe drive 1 is for boot/recovery..but im not entirely sure...drive 2 is to the right of my C drive which is unusual....also, in my computer, neither of these drives are visible...can someone please explain..thanks

    sorry...drive 1 is my recovery partition..boot is on C drive...what is dive 2 heh

    Not sure where it came from but we can investigate. First you need to make it accesible.

    Hello BoDikens,

    Those would be your factory recovery partitions. You DO NOT want to mess with them. These are what allows you to be able to restore Windows 7 back to factory conditions with.

    They do not show up in your Computer window since they do not have a drive letter assigned to them. You do not want to assign a drive letter to them to avoid doing anything to them by mistake as per the reasons above. :)

    What about the 13 gigs of space that is to the right of my C drive?? wouldnt this space come before the C drive?? let me know ... appreciate the help !

    If your computer is store bought that came with Windows 7 preinstalled, then the 13.55 GB partition would be the main recovery partition that contains all of the installation files.

    No it's at the end of C so it can be expanded or reduced easily.

    Actually, 1.46 is a little small to have a full image on!

    I noticed that ?1 and ?2 not only don't have a drive letter but they are empty. (100% free space) Therefor no file system.
    I'm not sure what to make of this.
