Yes Malware was clean...ok.
I was told to follow these tutorials and that option 2 is the easiest: User Profile - Change Default Location & User Folders - Change Default Location ... So do I do method 1 on the User Profile and Option 2 on the User Folders tutorial?
Method 1 is really confusing because it says to logon to the user account you want to move, then it says to create an administrator account that you don't want to move. So two administrator accounts? Login to the temporary adminstrator account and move the User folder from the original administrator account?
Any clearer direction would be much appreciated...
Just for extra measure run HitmanPro
Download HitManPro
64-Bit Version OS
Download
Save to the Desktop
Right click on HitmanPro.exe and choose Run as administrator
When HitmanPro opens up click Settings uncheck Scan for tracking cookies then click Ok then click on the Next button
Click on No, I only want to perform a one-time scan to check this computer on the Setup page . Click Next once done .
Let it scan the PC once its done Click Next
Click Activate free license to start the free 30 days trial and remove all the malicious files from your computer then click Next
I was able to follow the steps of Method 1 and I transferred the Keon User folder to E: successfully, then I did the Regedit editing. But when I got to Step 15 to verify the user has been moved successfully and right click desktop location, it's still C: rather than E:.......Maybe I didn't enter the path in right when I was in Regedit....The GB are transferred to E: but I don't know if I should delete the folder in C: yet... And I'll download Hitman now.
Hitman Pro found remaining malicious stuff and removed them...
The tutorial User Profile - Change Default Location tells you how to move your complete user profile i.e. the folder C:\Users\Your_Username completely to another location. To do as told in this tutorial needs to be done from another administrator account, not from the one you are moving, so yes, you need to create another administrator account to do this.
The method described in this tutorial moves the main user folder and all its subfolders and contents, so you do not have to move individual folders like My Pictures, My Documents and so on separately. Following this tutorial makes the methods told in the other tutorial you mentioned unnecessary. To move your existing user profile you follow the Method One, to move all future user profiles follow the Method Two.
If you instead of moving the complete user profile just want to move individual user folder or folders (as for instance My Documents), then you need to follow the instructions told in tutorial User Folders - Change Default Location. This method leaves your user profile on C:\Users\Your_username only moving selected subfolders of that profile.
Option One in this tutorial is the same than the moving the complete user profile, making rest of this tutorial unnecessary for you if you select that option. Option Two is then the one you need to follow if you just want to move an individual folder from inside your user profile.
In the future I recommend you to post your questions on the tutorial thread itself; that way you get help and answers sooner.
