Jerky behavior on Win7 Acer laptop

The past couple days, on my wife's laptop, everything has become jerky. Her wireless mouse and touchpad are the worst culprits. But it only happens when something else is running. If there are no programs, apps or browsers open, the touchpad and mouse are fine. But once something else starts working, they get jerky.

And when she's watching a YouTube video, the sound keep halting and buzzing, as if the laptop can't process the activity fast enough so it lags.

I don't have time to post her specs or much else right now, but was wondering if anyone know of what might cause such behavior in general? Her drive is defragged once per week, and she's clean from any type of malware.

How old is the machine dusk builds up in intake and exhaust vents and eventually will cause overheating,
Buy a can of compressed air and blow out each vent/ Shut down the machine while you do this and don't power backup for a half hour or so,
Compressed air can spray water because the can get cold so do not tilt the can sideways/ keep can vertical not upside down or sideways.
If the machine is still under warrantee call the manufacture and report it/ exchange it.

Work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to go over the install thoroughly. But if this is still the inferior Acer preinstalled Win7 I'd skip to doing the perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to get the native perfect Win7 performance you've never gotten yet.
