    Thrasher,

I downloaded your link. I ISO using Rufus onto 16GB USB. Installed USB, ran all the way through registry and services, the monitor goes to sleep and I just let it run. I had to do other things and when I returned the monitor is still asleep, the on/off on the computer was blinking and the stick was white, not orange showing activity. I moved the mouse around a bit, the on light refreshed and the stick turned orange and is blinking/solid orange.

How long does this take? I installed four hours ago. What should I do. Just move the mouse every now and then so it keeps working? Haven't got to the rest of the install screens.

    Hi,
The entire install from flash drive should take about 30 minutes not hours
Makes me wonder what shape the existing hard drive is in ?

Is the new hdd formatted GTP is all I can think of instead of MBR which is perfectly fine for any hdd under 2tb's
Hard Drive - GPT or MBR

Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk

Should I use DBAN, erase the entire drive and start again?

    Hi,
    I don't know what dban is :)
You can use Shift+F10 when the install asks for you activation key and use command prompt to switch to mbr if it is gpt.
First link should have shown how to do it with command prompt option 3 ?

Install does not get to the point of requesting activation key. It hangs before that.

DBAN is a Hard Drive erasure program.

    Hi,
Okay yea anything will I imagine work :)
See if it says if it's gpt or the recommended mbr for your current installation media.
Otherwise you'd have to use fat32 file system instead of ntfs as the rufus instructions stated.
