Rufus did not work for me. I was trying to create an ISO from a Dell Windows 7 DVD Reinstallation disc to a USB on an XP system, but would not auto run when I moved the USB to the Window 7 computer that crashed, in which I replaced the SPU and HDD. Keeps giving me command prompt and no where was I able to find the correct words to make it run.

    Thrasher,

Thank you. I have been working off that tutorial. I am coming from a disc, so when it asks me for ISO image, I don't know how to do it because there are a number of folders on the disc. I downloaded a Windows 7 from PC River and trying to mirror that to the ISO USB drive. See what I mean about going from a disc? Rufus gives me DOS files and it doesn't copy them all. I cannot image from the disc. Unless I misunderstand it, which is quite the possibility. Which option for install are you suggesting? No. 2?

Believe me you, I have issues and I have tried numerous combinations. If I recall correctly, instruction said to use FAT 32 instead of NFTS, but I am trying the latter this time.

Like I said, I am also using a Win 7 downoad, so I will see if that makes a difference.

What program did you try to use to extract the iso file of the dvd ?

    Image Burn can do it.

Currently, almost 6 PM EST. I had to feed the animals - utmost importance.

The USB continues to show signs of life with orange glow and occassional blip, so I assume it is still working. Been almost 1/2 hour. Finished completing install, then restarted and went to black screen. I'll just let it run and see what happens.

For the image, I attempted to download IMGBurn once and got nervous. So, I discontinued. But with the Forum endorsement, I am downloading and will copy my disc for a backup.

Thanks for everyone's input. I hope it all comes together.
