Windows freezes after log in- no error messages/codes
Hello all,
Just let me start by saying that I am not very tech savvy, and I am not sure which information will be useful or not. So I will do my best to explain my issue and hopefully some of you will be able to help! :)
Some info:
I am using an Asus laptop, model U56E. I run windows 7 home premium, 64 bit. Intel core i5-2410M cpu @ 2.30 GHz 2.29GHz. 6 GB ram.
The issue: Lately, whenever I turn on my computer, it freezes after I log in. It will start up fine, but freeze about 30 seconds to 1 minute after I've type in my password. The mouse freezes, cntrl+alt+delete does not bring up my task manager, and I do not receive any kind of error messages or pop ups. My computer will typically make sounds at start up- fans mostly-but when it is just running its virtually silent, so I'm not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue.
I can run in safe mode and everything is fine. It is just the running windows normally that has the issue.
...I update windows very frequently and use avast antivirus to scan often. Defragment it weekly...
- At first, I tried a system restore in safe mode, and it worked. But my recent attempt at that left my system restored and then frozen once more, after log in.
So, my question is: does anybody know what kind of an issue this might be? Or any tips/suggestions on how to fix it would be fantastic. (preferably in laymans terms, as I'm not very tech savvy) Thanks!
