    Question about renaming user accounts

Hi, I wanted to rename a user account but I read that it would not change the folder name or the registry in windows 7. Is it better to delete said user account and create a new one rather than renaming?

    Thanks!

    Hello Warsaw,

Indeed it would be better to create a new account first, then delete the old one later once you have finished copying any files and shortcuts from the old to the new.

You could rename the actual "C:\Users\(user-name)" folder, but the original name will still be tied to it for permissions like in the blue note box in the tutorial below.

User Profile Folder - Change User Account Folder Name

I would recommend creating a new account.

    Hope this helps, :)
