Can't start pc after putting it to sleep

Hello everyone. I have a strange problem and I hope someone can help me solve it. Yesterday we had a blackout and my pc was on sleep when that happened. After power returned I tried to turn it on just to find that it would not. Lights turn on, fan starts spinning and I can hear the sound of cd-rom but other than that nothing happens. screen is just black and nothing shows up. I'm not good with computers, but I dismounted everything including SPU and that battery thingy on the motherboard. I also tried to boot from cd to access repair mode. nothing worked. Now I am beginning to wonder if theres something with motherboard and I like to ask someone with some knowledge in this matter, not some random girl who knows about pc like me any advice would be appreciated

I'm sorry if I posted this in wrong section

    Hello Lenalee.

Make it sure that the monitor is turning on at first. If not, check the cabling, check the SMPS.

If monitor turns on, but no display, then power cycle the PC. Disconnect all the sources of power, press and hold the power button for say 30 seconds, or till it sounds a beep.

If still it is the same, dismantle the computer and Re-seat. Also Clear COMS.

    Let us know the results.

I've noticed a couple of times with Win7 that when I go away from my computer, even though I know the screen will turn itself off after a certain amount of minutes, when I come back, the screen stays black as if something bugged out. Nothing in the settings afaik that either locks my computer or otherwise requires an unlocking code to be entered. *shrugs* This have happened very rarely.

Thank you for advice. I tried dismantling everything and tested separate parts on my friend's pc. every part works as far as I can tell, be it video card, memory or SPU. and about clearing coms, I cant even make it to BIOS to do that. When PC starts the screen just stays black. monitor is turning on for sure. Can something be wrong with BIOS?

Does it beep? I guess not, as you havent mentioned.

Try to boot with no GPU (using the onboard graphics) and a single RAM stick. Does it do the same?

yep, no beep sound just as you said.

Same thing, tried without GPU and with one ram and still it does not start. And I don't know if it matters but the keyboard and mouse seem to be unresponsive as well. I mean, usually keyboard lights up its num lock when pc starts but now it does not even light up. sorry for late reply, I am using my friend's notebook

Probably the motherboard is not getting power. Can you check it in another system?

The strange thing is, actually it is getting. or at least I think so. I have memoryOk or whatever it is called so whenever I pull out memory sticks, it starts beep-ing loudly on the start and also I can see green light on on the start as well

Make sure your screen isn't dead. Connect it to another PC or at least try to open its own settings menu from the buttons it has somewhere ("menu" should open it).

Disconnect all drives and CD readers and anything not critical (keep 1 stick of RAM, CPU and GPU, and only mouse and keyboard). See if you can get into BIOS this way.

Then add one device/component and try booting up. Rinse and repeat. When it locks up again you found the damaged device.

If this fails, I would suspect the PSU. They are the first component that fails and begins to act strange in case of jumpy power lines like what happened to you.
So the next thing would be swapping the PSU with a new or at least a working one (maybe from another PC you have around, even very old ones should do as it's just for getting into BIOS, not hardcore gaming).

If that fails again then the board is probably dead somehow. The processor should be fine in theory regardless of all this stuff. Btw, the processor in your specs "E5 2400" seems to be a typo, you meant "i5 2400" right?

A general recommendation for the future, get a UPS. They shield the computer from such overloads and let you run the PC for something like 5 minutes in case of blackouts to let you shut it down safely.
Even a crappy one is better than none.

Yes I meant i5, sorry about that. I tried disconnecting several times and only booting with ram cpu and gpu and it does the same. My brother arrived today and bought his own pc to help me and he says he has never seen anything like this. he tried to demount everything and test it on his pc and he said that every part works fine on it. now I'm really lost. Also, I had ups and yeah its really crappy but it lasted literally 2 minutes even when pc was on sleep so I couldnt make it in time to turn it off properly. p.s pardon my silly question but can board just die like nothing like this?
