Not a single application will open, anyone know why?

I just turned on my laptop one day after not having wifi for a long time and then I clicked on Firefox and it wouldn't open, a minecraft won't open, only folders open. I absolutely cannot do anything! Anyone know what's going on?

Hello BlakBackJK, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Do you get an error message when you try to open them?

    Welcome to the forums!

Have you tried running a sfc/scannow to find and possibly repair corrupted system files? We have many fine tutorials here, written by some VERY knowledgeable people.

This is one : SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You're in fine hands with Brink, listen to whatever he says and you'll be fine.

    Sounds like malware to me.

The first thing to ask is "Does it happen in safe-mode?"

Work through the same steps as for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start to disinfect in Safe or Boot modes, check for System File damage.

Report back results including the MBAM results if possible, or write down the infections found by Windows Defender if run from boot scan, SFC results.

That's the first thing that came to my mind. I would also try booting in safe mode and try. If it works, I would reboot into Safe Mode+networking and download MBAM and run a full scan.
