Flipped pics OK an screen but NOT flipped on CD

I rotated some pictures 90 degrees using pic mgr. These display fine on it and photo viewer. I make a CD. My friends send me their chiropractors bill because they see the original orientation. Why on earth is this possible and what can be done about it beside firing incompetent and sneaky programmers?

I'm going to sound pedantic, but did you save the file once you flipped the image?

you do not sound pedantic dear friend, and YES I did save the files. What is infuriating is that the pics look OK when I use Bill Gates's stuff. I had no way of knowing this until someone else told me...
