MMC has stopped working when trying to open services

    Hello :),

I have a Dell xps 15 laptop with windows 7 familial edition and i have problems :s :

-When i try to open services i get the error message : Microsoft mangament console has stopped working (the message appears twice)

-Although I can still access services through msconfig which does work

-Services alone does work in safe mode

-I did some sfc/scannow test but it did not find any corrupted file each time

-I tried booting without any non-windows-services but MMC still crashes when i want to open services

-It also crashs when i want to get to the details of the event viewers

-I did not pay the extra fee to get a windows 7 CD with the laptop so i can't do a repair install :s

-Here is a crash log :

(yes I m french, I hope it does not bother you)

-My windows installer is also broken but it seems easier to fix (deleting a registry entry then reinstalling) so i want to fix that MMC stuff first.

Thanks firs for having read untill there, if you have any piece of information I could use to fix my problem I would be very grateful.

Sorry if my english hurts your eyes and thanks for all the support you bring to everyone !!!

try opening an elevated command prompt:
Start > type cmd > right click cmd and run as administrator

    then type:
    sfc /scannow

restart your computer and do it again 3 or 4 times to make sure it finds everything

    --keep us posted

Stry using the other options of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker and the tip enclosed in option three. then upload any reports made.

--also, read the rest of the tread and see if you can figure it out

*looking at some old treads here's some other tips:
Run Disk Check with Automatically fix file system errors checked. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log.
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

*also, if anyone who has more experience than i with logs would help out, that'd be great :)

*I'm sorry, i havn't used windows seven in a while, so try this:
reboot your computer and repeatedly press press F8 to get into windows 7 recovery menu. go to advanced boot options and select repair your computer, see if there' anything in there that can help :)

If you were willing to actually do a repair install, which i really dont think will be needed, there are places where you can get a windows seven ISO disk from, free and legally. you can go tho This site: >> >> http://www.wincert.net/forum/files/f...1-refresh-iso/ and get the correct version of windows 7 you have (i think home edition), then use the product key that came with the computer to activate it. instructions how to do a repair install are here >> >> Repair Install

Translated post (just did this for the logs that he posted)

    Solved

    Hey :)

    thanks for the support.
Disc check did not work well at all it sait it was planning to do one at reboot but never did (I tried several times) so i said to myself let s try the odd f8 menus and see what they can get and there I saw dell data back up local or some stuff like this : THIS STUFF IS AMAZING, I always loved Dell for the physical quality of their products but this backup utility preinstalled in the laptop is just wonderful, it asked me for files I wanted to keep (music, videos, softwares...) and then it reinstalled in windows in less than 1h and a half, a folder was here after in which there was an exe who got me all my files back.

So i have now a fully clean windows with my files with really low efforts. Thanks you guys because you allowed me to find that gem and as I said Dell did a wonderful job with installing this stuff on my laptop

    See ya!
