    Event Viewer slow to load

Lately, when I click Event Viewer in Administrative Tools, there is a spinning circle delay of 15 seconds, then an "Adding snap-in to console" box appears before the Event Viewer finally opens. Any ideas as to what's causing this annoyance?

Thanks maxie, but I don't remember it taking that long before, and I've never seen the snap-in box appear until recently. Maybe this has something to do with that last round of Win7 updates?

Hi there Have you noticed any other problems since the latest Updates .. Count the number of Logs you have . And then we can see how they compare to mine.. Should be able to determine then if you have have any problems in that area.

No other problems noticed. I actually purged the logs to see if it would improve load time. It didn't. Could be the snap-in process is causing this bugaboo.

Lo & behold, my Event Viewer started loading properly yesterday. No delay and no snap-in message! Is it just a coincidence that Ballmer announced his retirement on the same day? lol
