    Stopping Defragmentation

I have always avoided stopping or shuting down my computer while defragging. Win 7 is the first time I have allowed defragging to be scheduled. I wonder if I would be prevented from shutting down the machine while a scheduled defrag was running?

    Would it do harm?

I would really like to have the warm fuzzies about a scheduled defragmentation.

    Thank you.

    Hello Jsquareg,

If the scheduled defrag was running when you try to shutdown, it will cause shutdown to take a bit longer to complete, but it will cancel the defrag and continue to shutdown the computer without any harm being done. :)
