Windows 7 not starting: corrupt or missing ksecpkg.sys

    Hello,

My laptop is running with Windows 7 and just crashed today. Since about 3 weeks (after updating) it showed some problems with starting Windows. It just started the repaircenter and didn`t really find anything. However, after starting it again it usually ran normally.
Today (after updating) it failed again to start and didn`t recover. So, I tried to fix the bootsector with bootsec and an instruction in the internet. However, now it is not running at all and tells me that ksecpkg.sys is not running. Can somebody help me? Would be great if I can keep my data.
I`m just about to finish my thesis, so I would be very greatful for good support.
I`ve got a windows 7 cd that came with my laptop.
    Laptop model: DELL Latitude E5410

    Thanks!

@ pebbly. I`ve already tried to reinstall windows this way. However, I get a problem, when trying to upgrade Windows. It states that I cannot do it when booting from CD. Since I cannot run windows without boot CD, this seems not to be a viable option. Or is there another way in upgrading?

Hi kahboom , Make a bootable USB pendrive Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool Did you try the option gregrocker posted for you ? :)

You should not need to upgrade ,all you need to do is a "repair install" :)

Hi, I`ve tried to run the windows defender and the kaspersky rescue disk but somehow it won`t boot from the USB (boot error). Don`t know what`s wrong. Is there a way to start it from the USB when booting with Windows CD?

I`m now downloading the windows iso and will try to boot it.

You will need to get the disk or flash stick to boot. If necessary reset BIOS to defaults after noting SATA controller setting. Set HD first to boot, trigger DVD or stick using one time BIOS BOot Menu key
