Windows 7: wrong search results after files moved

wrong search results after files moved

After I move a folders to a different place.

Then later I search for a file name (from the start menu) and some of the results are wrong. They are where they used to be. So when clicked on they just give an error.

Sometimes it lists them as 2 files, in the old and new places. Sometimes just in the old place.

Is there a way to tell Windows 7 to update it's index of files, to find things where they are now?

I've been using this program - it will find anything on your comp in seconds.

Just enter the file ( or even part of the name) right click and "open path."

Everything Search Engine

Good luck!!

Hello dojibear,

It sounds like your index hasn't finished updating itself yet. You could rebuild the index to force it to update to see if that helps.

Index - Rebuild

Hope this helps, :)

Looking for patches to read ETA files - search returned no results
I was referred to this forum by a Wiki on ETA files. They stated that this forum would have links to patches that allowed my reading ETA files without downloading Google Earth. I would also like to know why (I have Google Desktop installed) my Windows log files show up as ETA files.

I had a program in a subfolder on my desktop, and I had set it as the default program for opening .PK3 and .WAD files, and then, like a total idiot, I moved the program to a different folder. The next time I tried to open a PK3, the "open with..." dialog box came up. I browsed for the new location...
