    W8.1 out in the wild

    Hi there
For those who haven't yet tried it W8.1 is out in the wild (both in X-86 / X64 and also ENTERPRISE) -- try it in a VM (I wouldn't suggest downloading stuff from a torrent and loading it on to your REAL machine - even though this particular torrent is from WZOR which by past experience tends to be 100% genuine).

There's a few decent improvements even against the current official preview version -- seems also some limited form of AERO is back too although that's not for me personally.

Boot to desktop directly is here to stay as well.

There might be a few more before the final is released but as it's getting near October release I'd suspect this leaked version must be pretty close to the final release.

Some of the original W8 haters might just find the improvements made in W8.1 are worth giving the OS another "Whirl".

    Cheers

    Hi there
Windows 8.1 is a DIFFERENT animal from Windows 8 -- quite a few differences so this post was referring to W8.1 rather than W8 -- a lot of people didn't (and still don't) like W8 but there are enough decent differences in W8.1 to suggest that they might like to have another look at it.

If they STILL don't like it --fair enough - but IMO W8.1 is a good deal on the way to what W8 should have been in the first place and most of the complaints would never have arisen.

Three good differences for starters (In this LEAKED version) - Boot directly to desktop, Disabling the "Corner Navigation" if required and being able to run many concurrent Metro applications -- now I don't particularly like Metro and there aren't many decent apps yet but some people will undoubtedly like these so being able to run several should be a decent improvement.

    Cheers

    Hi there
The preview is available from the Ms site - the RTM (or near final release) version is available from "The usual places".

I've been running it as a VM.

    Hi there
That one is OK but the Leaked version has a few more changes --for the better I might add !!! however as it's a torrent I advise running it in a VM.

The real final might yet have some more modifications too --

    Cheers
