You aren't the only one (or two) that's had/having this issue! I reported it to AOL just now. I'm glad I found your post.

Don't get your panties in a wad. It didn't bother me how he said it, & he clearly stated it wasn't a dead pixel within his posts. As a matter of fact, how he wrote it actually helped me to find it easy in a Google search.

Just another reason I Hate, Hate Hate AOL.

I am so glad they have finally died to just a miserable obscure website.

Umm, they haven't. Their software is still readily available on the website, and probably 60% of my customers (computer repair shop) have it installed, whether they use it or not. Of course I immediately remove it....but they are definitely still out there.

My Mom still uses it. I've been trying seriously trying to get her off it with no luck so far. It uses a lot of resources, but you know how people can get set in their ways. Glad to here it is resolved. Fabe

Some still use AOL for the privacy it gives them in regards to their IP, as well as the limitless usernames/emails they can create, all for their "dirty" work, especially in regards to message boards & eBay'ing. Trying to get such info from the AOL TOS requires law enforcement to be involved, generally.

    Just sayin'...

Oh the good ole days of AOL 3.x & 4.x, & the punter & TOS'er proggies.

    Update to psuedo dead pixel

Hi guys. Don't know if this subject is dead or not, but I may have an update about the issue that I don't believe anyone else has mentioned.

I too have the same problem with the discolored pixel being caused by a running program. In my case, running TinyGrab.exe (A screenshot program I recommend to everyone) causes the pixel to show up.

Quitting the program solves the issue; the pixel goes away. Restarting it brings it back. Since I absolutely love the program, I can sacrifice the pixel being there. I hardly notice it anyway.

Screenshot (taken by TinyGrab, lol) of pixel:
