    derekimo +1 :) :)
I thought I was going mad. Blaming my Startup + Services tweaks, for my lack of sound in YouTube.

Found ... All YouTube audio is muted. - Google Groups on your link to YouTube Audio Suddenly Missing

Its 7am here, I didn't sleep a wink last night dreading to day trying to figure out my lack of audio.
    • Normally I have all MS sounds disabled, but just now discovered the MS sounds are working ... but not YouTube.

Thank you for saving my sanity :)

Hi All I have been gone most of the day.
Glad you got your (YouTube) sound back.
GrayGhost2 use your computer for a few days and let us know how thing work. If things are to your liking it wouldn't hurt to make a backup.

    To "all" :) :)

Thankfully YouTube problem was not me.

Reinstated the Services + Startup tweaks ... as per my post "#18

At first "VLC Player" did not recognise DVD movies NOR music CDs.
No amount of coaxing, settings, options ... was a fix

    SOLUTION:-
    Close all apps and files
    Uninstall "VLC Player" with "Revouninstaller"
    Reboot
    Reinstall "VLC Player"
    Control Panel > Auto Play
    - applied settings as per this image ...

    app windows not refreshing-autoplay-settings.png

    Reboot (critical, must reboot)

So far I have not detected any problems.
Startup is probably 30% better, shut down is very quick. A vast improvement.

    Refresh lag is 99% gone.

    Thank you to all :)

    ADDENDUM:
Just discovered "Classic Shell Start" menu (if you are using it) can also slow down PC startup.

    Classic Shell FAQs:-
How do I improve the startup performance? ... and ... How do I make the start menu open faster?
