    locked screen and log off

I admit I did not do an exhaustive search but the issue I am facing is this.
When the screen locks, there is no option to log off the current user. All that is displayed is the password field for the currently logged in account.

I do have some GPO's running but didn't see anything that glared at me that I had removed it.

I am using the technet RTM x64 in our testing environment.

    Thanks for any input.

So you want the current user name visible?

honestly, I don't care if the current username is visible or not. However, at the CTRL-ALT-DEL screen on a locked computer, I want to be able to logoff, shutdown, etc. Basically, a couple people share this terminal and if it is locked the only way for them to switch is to power it off or to have the original user come back and log off the correct way.

Basically, Windows will not allow you to do that.

See, the issue is this - when he/she locks his/her computer, a user expects to come back and continue with her/his work. This way you want it to be, anyone could log him/her off and he or she would be losing all unsaved data.

See the problem? If you need to switch, when you go off, Log off. Or use Switch user.

most advanced users understand this concept. I agree that it is an education issue as well. However, in prior versions of Windows an administrator could come up to a locked machine and log off the user who was currently in a session and do whatever it was that needed done. In Windows 7, not even an administrator can follow up to a locked machine and do any work without having the machine power cycle.

Well, you can still do that. Provided you use Switch user. Is that option disabled on your system?

I mean, you have to provide credentials before you log off someone. No way around that.

That someone's gotta know who to blame.

That was it. Switch User was turned off by GPO. That gives me the functionality I was looking for. Thank you.

You're most welcome. Had u seen that Switch User button there where it was supposed to be, you'd have known what to do right away.

How did it get disabled in GP?
