Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

I used to have a computer with Windows XP on which I could use Microsoft Works 2002 "Picture It 7". I now have a laptop with Windows 7 which does not have Microsoft Picture It and I believe that application was discontinued. I still have the old software but cannot use it with Windows 7 only with Windows XP. I would like to do the dual boot installation but would like to know if there is any danger of losing programs when interchanging the 2 operating systems?

You can upgrade to Windows 7 Professional and download XP mode.

There are many newer and better-featured picture viewers available including Windows Photo Gallery which is downloaded from Windows Essentials - Download Windows Live Essentials.

To use an outdated photo program is hardly a reason to go to the trouble of Dual Booting WIn7. First I would try installing the legacy program in XP SP2 Compatibility Mode.

If that's not enough you can try to Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP but on modern hardware it's likely you'll need to slipstream in the SATA controller driver it won't install using the XP w/SP3 installer. SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD
