Differences in hardware acceleration : flash player and Explorer

I have a question since I made some changes in advanced options in explorer 9 browser.

Since I change in advanced options, "use software rather than hardware", I did not get back a type of problem happened to me sometimes --> video driver stopped responding and recovered...

But I saw that Adobe Flash Player, Settings, is the option to "use hardware acceleration"(I have disabled).

    • There is a difference between the two ?
    • Each is independent ?

Using software rendering if it improves functionality it would point to an out of date Graphic/ Video card driver,
You can check with the Computer manufactures website Help-Support sections for driver updates.
