    weired copying behaviour

when i move 1GB or more directory from one partition to anohter partition of same hard disk

the copy rate is 10Mb per second

however when i copy the same file from hard disk to USB 2.0 hard disk

the copy rate is 30Mb or more per second

should not the copy rate for partition should be higher

kf10, depends on the speed of your hard disk. Remembering that it has to reposition the heads twice for a same disk copy and only once for a copy to an external device..

richnrock is right, same hard disk means it's moving the head a lot more. Flash devices can be faster as well, but that's probably not the case here.

This is why I like to load my games on one disk and my OS on another :)
