    Computer reboots at Windows screen

I have an Acer Aspire M3470G desktop computer with default hardware. It just recently started rebooting each time it gets to the Windows screen. Two colored dots appear and the computer reboots before the graphic even forms the logo.

I tried taking the hard drive to work and hooked it up there and the problem followed the hard drive, leading me to think it was a bad boot sector on the hard drive. Windows recovery wasn't able to fix it so i bought a new hard drive.

I also purchased a fresh set of Recovery discs from Acer and attempted to restore the PC to factory settings. Everything installed properly but i still have the rebooting problem, even with the new hard drive. I don't believe it's overheating because it's been turned off all week. I don't suspect the power supply because it's been working fine for about a year, but it might be a possibility.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Are you able to logon in Safe mode without any issues?

Try this when you are logged on in normal mode. Also, please fill in your system specs.

Disable Windows Aero, install the latest video drivers, restart and then turn Aero back on.

    Thread Starter

    • Memory 4.0 GB / 16.0 GB (max)
    • Hard Drive 500.0 GB - 7200.0 rpm
    • Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition
    • Optical Drive DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM
    • Graphics Processor AMD Radeon HD 6530D
    • Graphics Controller Integrated

It doesn't go into safe mode, it just goes into a recovery mode which doesn't fix anything.

Do you have access to spare power supply? Because, that might be the cause.
