random computer crashing (eventvwr report inside)
Hey, i built my computer a few months back and have recently (last few weeks) been getting random crashes/freezes where my only solution is to hold down the power button (reset button doesnt work either). i have checked event viewer and the only error is this:
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. Any help would be much appreciated, will answer any questions you have too. |

We need more information.
A couple of questions: 1.) When did this start happening? 2.) Has anything changed in your system recently? 3.) Do you have any other event viewer errors? 4.) Is your bios and drivers are up to date? |

Well, AVG Free has some extentions (if you didn't de-select them on install) that can mess a bit with Win 7. Everything that has a "Send/Retrieve Info from the internet" feature can mess with Win 7. Even it's own Media Player. So try and turn these options off. As for AVG, try reinstalling it and 'Custom Install' it, then De-select all the extra crap, like E-Mail and Link Scanner And see if this doesn't work. It did for me.

Well, try stopping as much automatic Info Send/Retrieving. And check if If you have the Optional Media Center Update. It helped me.
![]() I don't know why, but a lot of the freezes on my installation seems to stem from Audio Services and the automated Information gathering windows does, go figure. ![]() |

Have you installed all drivers from your motherboards disk? Or did you go online to get them? I personally would recommended going to your manufacturers site and downloading all the latest drivers from there. Whats on the cd is always outdated. If you include your actual motherboard model we can get you a link, although using google you could find this out yourself.
I want to make sure you have all drivers up to date though before proceeding with other ideas. Try swapping your sata cables as well that go to your hard drive. This is a common problem in custom built setups where the sata cable can start going bad causing weird freezing and the like. |
