Is there any minus points in using xp sp3 oct 2013 patched

I AM CURRENTLY USING WIN 7 X86. BUT I WANT TO ROLLED BACK TO XP . I KNOW ITS VERY OLD. SO MANY SECURITY PROBLEMS . I HAVE 1 GB RAM (960 USABLE)
note - plz don't consider appearance (will use skins)
ie 8 (use chrome)
wmp (use other video players)
security (have kaspersky and i never update my windows)

Instead I'd shrink your C partition to Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP. This way you'll have both and can get back to Win7 easily, delete XP partition when it falls over dead soon. If you have problems with Win7 then first try Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

You'll want to use the XP disk to full format the target partition, then after install Mark Win7 Partition Active to run Startup Repair - Run up to 3 Separate Times to start Win7 again since XP will steal its boot, then install EasyBCD (click Download - no Name or Email required) to add XP from Win7 which is easiest.

If it won't install then you'll need to add SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD.

XP will no longer receive security updates after 04/08/2014 and will become increasingly vulnerable to malware. I see little point in rolling back to XP since you should roll back again next year, especially since you are already using Win 7.

That one slud right by me. I find it amazing people believe it's safe to not update Windows because they use an AV.

You might not be interpreting the OP's claim...

The title of the thread indicates:

"update windows" could mean "in place upgrade" vs. "clean install".

I certainly could be mis-understanding, and think the OP needs to clarify and explain better ...

Are you saying someone can do an "in place upgrade" to go back to XP from 7?
And why would that be a recommended approach in SF with XP end-of-life coming "soon"?
For the last year I've been advising people I help to get off of XP...not go back to it...
