RE: What is the Technical Name Or Term For These Kinds Or Types Of..?

Hello. I have a question to ask you regarding the kinds or types (not necessarily the file extensions) of download files in Windows.

What is the *TECHNICAL NAME OR TERM* of a [FIRST] file that you download (typically rather small in size) where you are often given the choice to download it to your desired location, only after to click on it to initiate another online download (a second download) for the bulk of the program code/data you want from the source of some prospective online server? Often the second download is not saved to your desired location (often you never see the second download's physical file name and download location) and sometimes following the second download, installation process of the prospective program commences automatically after you accept or OK the installation. A great number of tech. companies have been offering downloads in this manner for many years like Microsoft, Adobe, etc. for various online downloads.

Yet, for years and still today, many online downloads have ONLY ONE file you download without having to download again a second time. The bulk of the program code/data is in ONLY ONE file download and with that, you can save the download file to your desired location. This is my favorite type of download that I can easily back up or save on a CD/DVD or flash or hard drive.

Please provide me the TECHNICAL NAME OR TERM of the FIRST download file kind or type and if there is also a TECHNICAL NAME OR TERM of the SECOND downloaded file kind or type, please let me know that too.

    Please reply.

    Thanks!
