Did you make sure you got the x64 SetPoint drivers?
Also check in the advanced power settings to make sure it's not putting your wireless or usb devices to sleep. Perhaps they're not waking up properly. I say this because you said that they stop working "after a while".

I just finished installing Windows 7 HP on my PC (dual boot, XP on C: and 7 on D: partition). In 7 my wireless MX700 mouse was slow, sticky, unusable. An old wired mouse worked perfectly!
After re-installing drivers, re-plugging USB cale to mouse docking pod etc etc. I re-connected the USB cable into the motherboard's USB socket, instead of the powered hub's socket it was previously in.
All works OK now!
Although the mouse was ok for years in XP-mode, in Windows 7 it does NOT like to be connected via a hub.

Yeah, Win 7 has a thing with hubs... I just went through hell with them and ended up doing another clean install and the problems seem to be fixed, at least with the computer USB... I threw away the hub. So, my mouse is working fine now. On to some other dilemmas....

A hub adds one more layer to the hardware. That could cause some problems. If you have trouble with devices plugged straight into the computer then you may have a driver problem, or maybe a dying mobo.
Check your PSU too, especially if its an inferior OEM/cheap one.
I have been having sticky mouse problems with my logitech mouse since I started using Windows 7. I thought I had it solved at one point but, it started up again.
After reading this thread, I just moved my mouse to my powered PCI-E USB card. The mouse seems to be working smoothly now.
I am still suspicious that it might start acting up again though. So, I will try this out and report back.
This is how I fixed my mouse problem. I believe this will fix all similar problems on all Vista / Windows 7 PCS.
1) When you experience the "sticky mouse" or "jerky mouse" problem, go to your Task Manager
2) Arrange the programs in an alphabetical order; this makes it easier.
3) Look at every single program currently running on your PC. Is it an old program, that you possibly have been using for several years, previously on Windows XP, Windows Millennium or Windows 98? - If yes, here is what to do with each of these programs:
3.1- try to find the equivalent program recently created or adapted to work with Windows 7; this is not always possible; if you cannot find an equivalent program, follow the following steps
3.1- locate the program's .exe file (probably under C:\Program Files (x86); but you may have it elsewhere)
3.2- right-click on it, select "Properties", choose the "Compatibility" tab
3.3- place a checkmark at "Run this Program in compatibility mode for" and select the appropriate old operating system (the operating system that was used when you first used the program; or when the program was created)
3.4- if you want the program to run when Windows starts, create a shortcut to that .exe on your desktop and drag it to Start -> All Programs -> Startup
That's it! I had several little programs which were causing the mouse problem.
To complement, here are also actions which may help:
- using Device Manager, disable all non-essential devices one-by-one, test your mouse, and re-enable the device if mouse still had the problem whilst the device was disabled
- download "Stinger" free McAffee virus scanner, restart in safe mode, scan with Stinger and your regular antivirus
- in mouse settings, UNCHECK the option "Hide pointer while typing" (the latter helped me finally)
