I put the disk in and still get the message reboot and select proper boot device

What disk is this? How did you burn it exactly?

Tap the key given on the first boot screen for BIOS Boot Menu to trigger the DVD drive. Does it prompt to Press any key to boot disk?

The disk has the pgprosetup on it. I opened the ISO so the files are visible. I did try tapping the key on first boot screen, but got the same reboot message. Perhaps I tapped too long (or not)

What is pgprosetup? No one here has advised using that program. You've been given very specific steps to try which each have the tools specified with a downloads link and tutorial on how to use them.

An ISO file must be written to a new disk with Windows Image Burner, which should be on the ISO file's right-click Menu, sometimes under Open With...

Or you can install ImgBurn to Burn Image File, browse to the ISO file from the file icon at top. ImgBurn

Sorry, Frodi. I've only used the trial version contained in Hiren's Boot Disk, still called Disk Genius. It repaired Partition tables several times for me.

When I downloaded PGProSetup as it's now called it is in the form of an .exe file to install the program, not an ISO which can be burned to disk. Did you find the .iso file elsewhere?

I have deleted the PGProSetup and have looked at Hirens but don't know what to download from there.

Hirens is a boot disk with sample software already on it. You don't download from it, you boot it and run the Software. Perfect Disk is on there under Recovery Tools. It can repair the Partition Table.

Or you can go ahead to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
There is a step there to rescue any files you need, then I would delete all partitions during the reinstall to get it cleanest.

Unfortunately I cannot clean the OS off the SSD, I have no access to Windows 7. I don't think I can just download a fresh OS on top of the installed one. The BIOS, is sound.

You can boot from a Windows 7 install DVD and delete the currently installed OS. If you chose the custom install option you can delete the partitions one by one, picking and chosing what ones you want to remove and what you want to leave. Then you create a new partition(s) and install to it. The Windows 7 DVD has its own Pre installation environment, a mini OS if you will, that it runs from.
