Did you even read Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which I'd just posted for you to understand how to do a perfect reinstall?

Sorry Greg, still trying the hiren's, got it on the screen, it says "boot from hard drive (windows vista/7/2008 or xp) I tried that but it didn't work. I only burned the ISO to the disk, should I put the other files on it as well?

You need to burn the Hiren's ISO file to disk using Windows Image Burner which should be on the ISO's rightclick menu under Open With or elsewhere.

I don't have a Hiren's disk here to help you navigate to Perfect Disk trial but it is on there in one of the menus either before or after booting into XP explorer.

If you want to instead do the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
then it should be sufficient to delete all partitions during the booted install using the Advanced Drive Options shown in Steps 7 and 8 of Clean Install Windows 7

If you'll stick closely to the steps in the tutorial you'll get and keep a perfect install.

You can rescue any files you need using the Win7 installer media provided follow this method to Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console.

Cannot get it to work, keep on getting error 15 on just about everything. Can I do a clean install using the provided Windows 7 disk? I am not very confident Greg. I have to install to the ssd.

Then I would unplug all but the SSD, boot the Win7 installer, during a Custom install delete all partitions at the drive selection screen using the Advanced Boot Options shown in Steps 7 and 8 of Clean Install Windows 7. Create and format a new partition to install Win7 upon.

If you have files to rescue there is a step in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 for how to do this. It also will remind you of everything that needs to be backed up so you don't forget anything. You can browse into the unbootable OS to do this using Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console or Paragon Rescue Kit Free Edition 11.0 Free CD.

Put your LAN driver in your backup so you can install it if Win7 doesn't start up ready to connect to the internet. Staying plugged in by ethernet cable will increase the chances. Once you connect immediately enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) then Check for Windows Updates and install all Important and Optional until there are no more - after reboots, keep checking again for Updates.

If you will follow the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 then you will get and keep a perfect install for as long as you do. Don't hesitate to ask back any questions you need answered.

I don't seem to be able to dl the UEFI flash drive. I dl'd the ISO and that is sitting on the desktop.

Do you have a UEFI BIOS? This has not been mentioned before and makes a difference.

To find out if you have a UEFI BIOS, reboot into BIOS setup to look for any UEFI settings, Legacy BIOS, or CSM (Compatibility Support Module). This indicates you have UEFI BIOS.

Please explain what you mean by downloading a UEFI flash stick?

If you don't have a UEFI BIOS then just write the ISO to flash stick using the tool provided in Step 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Yes UEFI BIOS comes up with legacy and CSM. I googled for a UEFI flash stick. I also dl'd a repair disc for windows 7 as I could not use the disc supplied with the oem. The repair disc makes it possible for windows to start, but I have no internet connection.

Is Legacy Mode or CSM enabled now? If not I would enable them to Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7.

This will save a lot of trouble for the reinstall and for later repairs. UEFI is a level of added crapware that adds no real benefits but lots of problems we see here. However if you want to understand it better watch this video about UEFI BIOS vs. Legacy BIOS - YouTube
