Glad it worked for you.
Are you planning to put this into a scheduled task?
Yes, I already have.
Thanks for the link to the tutorial.
Your question/thread should help others that wonder about this
My only question is why, as you can choose all these kinds of options in avast settings, or a quick right click of avast by the clock and choose update, but glad its working the way you desire :)
Convenience I suppose... a quick double click of the saved cmd on the desktop is simply more convenient than opening UI>> settings>> update>> update. The scheduled task is just in case I forget to manually update (I don't let ANY program Auto-Update). I had forgotten you could right-click the Icon & update until you mentioned it in your reply but alas, my Avast! tray Icon is completely unresponsive to left, right & middle clicks!
I'm off to Avast's forum to seek a solution...
Not even your antivirus?
Interesting. okay.
As for the icon not working, try a restart and if it still does not work, you might want to run a repair install of avast. Just go to add and remove programs, choose avast and click repair.
Yes,

No. haha
But he is logged into his profile anyway in order to run the cmd/bat/command.
