another process set the focus changed maybe
Sorry for butting into your conversation but in googling I found this thread and maybe my information helps you. I have the same "annoying" problem. I think the "bug" It is not a Windows 7 specific problem as the computer I have the problem with uses XP Pro as OS. It is a Pentium 4 desktop, I use a mouse as a pointing device, sometimes I run my Analog display as a clone with a Toshiba digital projector and use a NVDIA Geforce 6200 video card.
I had the same problem about a year ago and then updated all my drivers (video card, mouse, dirctx) which in my opinion could cause such a weird problem and it went away. Now the problem is back on an "on and off basis" in XP and persistent in some games i. e. sometimes in XP I try to shut down the computer, I point at the shut off button on the Windows message window and bingo the window disappears everytime I point at the message window and I have to use the keyboard to shut down the computer. More annoying some of games i. e. Universalis III became unplayable because as soon as I point at a message Window the application/game actually crashes in turning black screen with the usual apologetic windows message that the application has to close and that I lost any "work" done. I again updated all my drivers, changed the mouse etc. but the problem is really persistent this time. Other than the windows automatic updates the only discretionary major change lately was that I updated directx to its latest version and it ?seems? since then the problem came back.
Any suggestion how to fix the problem is welcome.
I am having the same issues on My Dell Laptop. No viruses, everything is up to date. Thank God I still have an XP machine.
Have the exact problem on my 5 days old installation of win7 over xp. im using a laptop too. ibm thinkpab T60p. no help sofar.
and p.s. had the same done on my daughters laptop win 7 over vista though (fujitsu siemens amilo) no problems whatsoever with 7. one wiseguy told that the ibm graphic card isnt compatible with win 7 and they havent done anything to fix that update or something. man its frustrating have to get back to xp thoug the 7 seems nice ....... if it works properly.

I think what we need to do for starters is find some commonality among the machines. For instance, date first noticed this issue, as specific as possible, build of windows seven, list of updates installed just before issue happened to time of occurrence. And anything you guys can think of that might have triggered this issue. Hopefully once you all start outlining these things, maybe we can come to a conclusion and offer a solution. Because we need to narrow it down to whether it is hardware or software. Is there anyway to quickly get a screenshot of the window before it disappears? If you could install and run some for screen recorder that could capture it, then post the recording, that would be nice.
When I try to turn volume down it won't, except when I mute it. Also won't let me click and drag scroll bar. Help please
I have IBM Think Pad T60p. Processor: Intel T2500, 2Ghz. 32-bit op system. ATI Mobility FireGL V5200.
The problem was with win7 right from the start when i installed it over the xp which was working flawlessly.
The problem is: the borders of the opened windows whatever the program is ( my computer, IE, Itunes, etc)are blinking-flickering. Bigest problem is the menus they open but close right away so i cant even point a cursor to make the selection. For instance: taskbar wifi channels, volume. From the start menu the submenus of the all programs list. In the computer when i want to adjust the settings the menus are scrollable only with arrow keys.
I googeld and spent hours in the forums and it seems that the problem is with graphic controller (ATI). The main symptom indicating that was described and its same in my laptop is the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) which does not respond, when clicked it gives a error note. Same error notes appear when opening windows twice. So as recommended i installed newest version of the ATI it was 10-3 but no effect from the problems i have but now at least i dont get the error messages. So since the problem is dynamic i cant make any screenshots as You zay asked but i hope the description is sufficient. if anything else You need to know ask and i tell. I-m not a very good on computer stuff so excuse if anything above or future mentioned is silly or funny.
