Cannot start PC- startup repair. virus?
Hello everyone! complete pc newb here! So I have a big problem and I cannot start my PC. It all started after I downloaded a free trial of Webroot Securityanywhere and ran a quick scan. It detected an infected object and said it needed a system restart. I postoponed the restart for a later time and kept the pc running. When I opened my FB page I saw that all the images in the page (except the profile pics...oddly) were not being displayed. I refreshed the page to no avail. I then tried a different website and saw teh same problem there. I went back to FB and this time it was even more F***ed up with no images at all. I hit refresh and the it said the page could not be opened. Thought something was wrong with firefox so i opened my internet explorer and same thing; Cannot open page. So pretty much my internet all of a sudden stopped working. The fact that things were getting progressively worse made me think it was a nasty virüs or some sort of hardware failure. I saw the Microsoft security Essentials wantingto scan and did that but nothing chaged. Shocked, I tried restarting my pc, and bam! Start up repair.
I waited for the file check to complete at first but it took a very long time so thinking it was stuck in a loop i restarted again. Again the Startup repair appeared and in a short time it gave the " Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically" message. This happened on my desktop and i dont have the Windows CD.
I checked some threads of being stuck in the startup repair loop and found this closest to the issue: Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery The problem is, after the startup repair failure when i click "View advanced options for system recovery and support", In the System Recovery Options window I only get the option of Startup Repair and nothing else. No System Restore, System Image Recovery, Windows Memory diagnostic, or command prompt options. I also tried to Access the boot menü but i get ==Select a Boot First device==. I first checked the Hard disk and the options are "Ch0 S. :WDC WD5001aals00l3b2" and "Bootable Addin Cards" and the external HDDs. No matter what I selected I ended up to the same startup repair.
As you can see I tried what I could with my near non existent knowledge and came up with nothing. I am sorry for I describing the problem I have quite terribly. I know it probably looks like a nightmare to try and help me, but I'd really appreciate it alot if someone can.
P.S. I will be able to check the post 7 8 hours from now. thank you in advance.
