I can't re assign file associations

I've got my regular admin user account and want to assign a program to a file say ".mobi" to a e-reader.

clicking the program brings up the dialog to choose a program.

when I choose a program (using browse), the programs not added to the list and the file remains attached to "Windows Shell Common Dll", trying to link to a default program (even an unlikely one) still stays linked to Windows Shell Common Dll

if I create a new profile , this can associate files properly...

    so any ideas???

Hello Everville, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Did you have the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file box checked when you selected the program?

Open With - Change Default Program

    Hope this helps, :)

If you don't mind, I suppose that you could use the new use account instead since it works fine in it.
