    Did you back-up the ssd from your mom's old laptop before you formatted it ?

    lol jk yea I did. I found a program that will align and clone it for me. now how do I set windows up for the SSD. TRIM and such?

    ok heres my current SSD. I shrunk the system reserve from 40gb to 100mb. now how can I add the unallocated space to C partition?

    Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD is a good tool to change partition size. The tutorial at the link also has the download to the free program.

    Yes, it is very easy. You must use the bootable CD of Partition Wizard. Download the .iso from the last box on that webpage and burn it to CD. Then boot the PC with that CD. Instructions on how to use PW are here:

    How to extend partition easily with partition magic ? Partition Wizard video help.

    Note: the operation will take a little while because it has to shift all the data in C to the left.

    PS: Jim beat me by a few seconds. Now you should have all the info required.
