After CHKDSK, black screen with cursor

    I know it's really late to reply on this thread but I hope it help out those who came here for solution! :) :) lol

    So, the problem is the CHKDSK Replacing invalid security id with default security id/Defaulting the security id.
    I think this only work for those who encounter Black Screen with Cursor after CHKDSK defaulting the security id

    1) Press F8 when the startup screen load.

    2) Go to "Repair your computer" and press enter

    3) Then , Open up the Command Prompt

    4) In the command prompt type ICALS c:\ /grant everyone:F /c /t (this may take about an hour to complete.. Just wait )
    Note: you can replaced c:\ with other for giving access to the file(eg :ICALS d:\ /grant everyone:F /c /t)

    5)Reboot your PC

    I know this topic is old now but yesterday I had the same problem and the solution above did the job. I just wanted you to know that the right command should be ICACLS, not ICALS
