Windows freezes when playing video and using Snap to resize Windows

I am having a weird problem the last couple days. I am using Window 7 Home Premium SP1, 32-Bit. My problem is as follows:

I will play a Video_TS folder in either VLC or MPC (both exhibit the same problem in this case). It can play just fine. I will open a new window in Windows and I can drag it anywhere on the screen, but once I drag it far enough to a side to have the "Snap" feature come into effect, the computer totally freezes to the point where I just have to unplug and plug back in to reboot. I have uninstalled and re-installed both VLC and MPC and it has helped none. I have run all the diagnostic programs I have on my computer with no fix. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like a video driver problem. Check the manufacturers web site, see if they have an update or check the video card/chip manufacturers web site, see if they have one.

Your specs have all the info except video

Also, check to see if the video driver has been updated recently via Windows Update. If so, roll it back via Device Manager.

No updates done to the driver via Windows Update. I have the current drive for:

Try SPlayer Portable

Make sure to search on Portable. It was awhile ago but I did encounter a bad bug on the installed version that doesn't happen on the portable.

Also I think I had that video chip on an HP machine. You may be better off to disable automatic window resize in Control Panel. Monitoring the window and mouse movement during video play may be taxing the system. You can always use a manual hotkey snapper to position windows.

That's what I ended up doing. It's a nice feature, but it just seems like it's way too much for my computer to handle for some reason. Thanks for the reply, will look at SPlayer.
