Extrememly slow start up

I was hospitalized for about a week and had a neighbor stay at my house and look over things. Before I left I gave her a guest account on my pc so she could use it while I was away. She didn't have access to a pc unless she was at work. When I returned everything was fine with the apartment and all but when I went to start my computer it took a ridiculous amount of time till I saw my desktop...almost six minutes.

I have since rolled back to and earlier success
Used a start up program removal success
Used all spam and Trojan success

What next. All help is appreciated
Windows 8.1

Toshiba Satellite c655-s5512

Windows 10x64 Build 1709

I'm assuming you've ran your anti-virus and anti malware scans, correct? Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a "start up program removal tool"? I must admit your post puzzles me a bit, from what you said you did to try and fix it to your system spec.'s. Here's a link to a tutorial for optimizing windows 7 : Optimize Windows 7

You could also try a selective start to see if you have any application conflicts : Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Or..... if you're using 8.1 you could try our sister forum, in case its an 8 specific problem : Windows 8 Forums

As Indianacarnie says mate what is confusing me is why are you specs listing Windows 7 yet you want speeding up in 8.1??

In any case it is quite similar to the one Indiana mentioned except for some annoying changes to the Start up tab etc in the msconfig
