Use a tool Like Macrium Reflect to create a Image of your Windows 7 HDD.
You can use Macrium Reflect to Place that image onto your Windows8 HDD.

If you clone to your new Notebook, you need a new Windows 7 Product key to ACTIVATE.

The Windows 7 Product key from your old Notebook, can not be used on the new Notebook.

    R u cloning only the C drive?

Dwnld & Install Macrium on Win8 Laptop.
Create Bootable Macrium DVD from Macrium Reflect.
Connect the Win7 HDD and Image it.
