developed a problem yesterday which is basically when i double click the computer icon on desktop or my documents icon etc it just places it on the taskbar at bottom of the screen & i cannot access anything , any clues as this really does have me baffled , tia

Try right clicking on the desktop and choosing "screen resolution". See if the computer is setup for multiple monitors, you will see it in the top portion of the window where it says "change the appearance of your display".

If that isn't it you might have accidentally moved the window off screen. You can check out this Youtube video I made to see if that is your issue.

cannot understand why it would suddenly do this though ? , i did have multiple windows open at the time it started up , what`s happening with mine is if you click on anything on desk top or try to open computer or documents from start menu then it just sends them to the taskbar and stacks them rather than opening them individually across the bar :/ , thanks for the tip btw , i will try it when i get in from work in the morning

You might see if you may be able to do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before this last issue started to undo and hopefully fix it.

Perhaps it's trying to show on the TV instead.

Did you have both displays connected while trying to startup Windows?
