windows 7 black screen help - tried all known options - please help

my dell studio laptop is not working any longer. When I start it I get a message that there is a problem in software/hardware and 2 options are given :*
    1. Startup recovery.
    2. Start windows normally.

I tried both options, and in both, after loading files , I get a black screen with movable cursor.

I tried the following things as well :*

    1. Pressed f8 while restarting and tried to start with safe mode, safe mode with networking, restore previous known good configuration, repair my computer.
    2. Used windows 7 installation dvd to reboot, to install new installation.
But all tries came back to the black screen after loading files.

    Please suggest a solution.
