Hmm, that's weird. It would be best to wait for Noel now yes. He knows a lot more about this than anyone else on the Forum and with his help your issue will be gone in no time:)
Do note that Noel lives in the UK where it is evening now, so he might not reply until tomorrow. Please be patient until he arrives.

Good luck and keep us posted,

Yep - the affected file is part of the base windows install of .NET3.5 so any problems are likely to cause updates to throw a fit

Please run a CheckSUR scan so we can see if there's anything else that needs looking at.

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.

Hi Noel! Thanks so much for helping!

From your link, I was directed to System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821).

It doesn't specify that this is the CheckSUR Tool. Furthermore, this download is 436MB. Is this correct?

UPDATE: I installed this and from reviewing the .log file, there are "no errors detected"

Attached is my CheckSUR log as requested. As you can see, no further errors are detected.

    CheckSUR.log

But after running sfc /scannow, the corrupt files remain.

After running another CHKDSK scanner, I restarted my laptop and ran SFC /SCANNOW. This time, there was no errors found!

BUT, my issue regarding System Image and System Restore points still remain.

Whenever I back up my laptop via a System Image, or try to create a Restore Point, I get: "The restore point could not be created for the following reason: The specified object was not found. (0x80042308) Please try again."

There is no Restore Points even though I set it to create Restore Points with up to 10GB of HD space. Also, when I updated my Windows via Windows Update, there should be an automatic Restore Point, but again, none was created..

I get - "The module "swprv.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070715."

    - "The module "eventcls.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070715."
    - "The module "vssui.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files."

Please run another SFC /SCANNOW, and post the new CBS.log - then we'll get to work on the corrections necessary :)

There is no Restore Points even though I set it to create Restore Points with up to 10GB of HD space. Also, when I updated my Windows via Windows Update, there should be an automatic Restore Point, but again, none was created..
    Let's create one then:)

    1. Click on the .
    2. Right-Click on My Computer and then click on Properties. A new window will open.
    3. Click on System Protection. A new window will open.
    4. Click on the fourth tab, named System Protection.
Under the Protection Settings there are listed several drives.
Repeat the following steps separately for every drive listed there that has protection On.
      • Click on the first drive.
      • Click on Configure at the bottom of the page. A new window will open.
      • Click on Delete at the bottom of the page. A message will open to inform you that all restore points were deleted.
      • Click Ok to close this window.
      • Now click on Create with the same drive selected.
      • Name your restore point so you can recognize it (for example; January 10th ).
      • A new window will pop up to inform you that a new restore point was created. Click on OK.
      • Repeat these steps for every drive that has the word on next to it. If there is only one drive listed there, continue to step 5.

    5. Close all open windows and restart your computer.

This procedure will clear all old restore points and create a new one.

BUT, my issue regarding System Image still remain.

Whenever I back up my laptop via a System Image, or try to create a Restore Point, I get: "The restore point could not be created for the following reason: The specified object was not found. (0x80042308) Please try again."
I have told you everything on this topic in my previous posts. If that did not fix it and if Noel can't fix it, I would advice you to create a new thread (After solving the SFC problem!) in the Backup and Restore subforum.

Good luck and keep us posted,

Great! Very excited to get this issue solved. But, there are no errors any more with regards to the SFC scan.

The only problem I have is Backup and System Image issue I have been talking about.

And now, my FN keys do not work (volume, brightness etc.) and my Synaptics touchpad does not work anymore...I did go into msconfig..
