No Disk error message keeps appearing

I tried to figure a solution for this myself but failed since I can find no logic in why the problem occurs.

The last couple of months I noticed this error message randomly appearing with the message "No Disk" followed by a couple of error codes and the option to Try Again, Cancel or Accepting (OK) it.

Obviously this has something to do with the USB device since whenever I have an USB stick or something plugged in the computer is nice and quiet about it but when there is none there this message keeps appearing making me most frustrated...

Other forum posts on this I found says it could be because I have not securely removed the USB stick through windows but note that this message appears even after the computer being turned off for a while and there has been no USB device in it before turning off or even after turning it on. Still appears and bugs me...

Anyone got any solution for this perhaps? I do a lot of home recording to the computer and while this error message appears it ruins the recording.

Sometimes this error message appears when the system is trying to access a disk drive but unable to do so. The disk drive can be a music player OR a flash drive which you previously connected to one of the USB ports Or a CD/DVD drive

1. Right click on the task bar, Select Properties. Click Start Menu tab, make sure that Start Menu is selected, click the "Customize" button near it. Click the "Clear list" button. Click OK twice and then check.

2. If the above does not help, click Start-> Run
Type msconfig and press Enter, The System configuration utility should open, Click on the Startup tab Click Disable All
Click Apply and Close

Restart the computer

When it starts again, you will get a notification about using the system configuration utility.

Click the checkbox for Do not show this again, click Ok. Now test the system for a while.

If the error message re-appears, and if you use a flash drive Or any music player with your computer, then connect the same to one of the USB ports.

Please check whether you have any programs running in the background and trying to access any USB drive or CD ROM drive - programs like Alcohol, Magic ISO etc., Try to recollect any programs you had installed recently after which you are experiencing this problem.
