    Netbook OS low RAM

    Hey guys,

I have this netbook which is a awesome lappy, really well built and great netbook and i love it. Its a Acer Aspire One AOD27.

The only issue is ofcourse is RAM. It had stock of 1GB and I upgraded to 2GB.

Windows 7 is quite slow, not the best response times.
    I need a windows platform.

What the most lightweight and fastest windows OS?

    Thanks guys!

netbooks are inherently slow regardless of what you shove in them.
mainly due to price, they have slow low powered cpus, higher latency low amounts of ram and slow spinning mechanical harddrives.
normally more ram is good, but 2gb is really the minimum you need for win7 and sadly its the maximum you can put on your netbook (according to crucial)

if you want to give it a bit of a kick up the perverbal id suggest getting a solid state harddrive, it will make a massive difference.

also as for now click start, type run and then in the box type msconfig.
click the start up tab and untick everything of no importance.. personally I have everything unticked.

what it will do is stop all the unneed processes starting on stsrt up that hog all your ram

The performance of a netbook is perfectly adequate to do what it was designed for - light tasks such as web browsing, checking email, word processing, etc... If you attempt to use it for cpu/gpu intensive tasks such as gaming or video editing then you will be disappointed. Nothing you can do will change that. Adding an ssd will make things a little better but the results won't be quite as dramatic as one would think.

I have an Acer Aspire One AOA150 that originally came with a 160GB hdd and 1.0GB RAM running XP Home. I maxed the RAM out to 1.5GB and swapped the hdd for a 64GB ssd, then installed Win 7 Pro. I ran that configuration for several years as my travel rig and used it to watch videos, do word processing, spreadsheets, email, etc... when traveling in my RV. About 6 months ago, I replaced Win 7 with Win 8 then 8.1. The little netbook runs Win 8.1 very well, especially Metro apps since they are lighter weight than similar desktop apps.
