    Hanging Windows Explorer and Office

All of myMicrosoft Office applications are slow and seem to hang up.

I use Windows Explorer all day, dozens maybe hundreds of times, to browse to files. It hangs up a lot. If I reboot, the problem ceases – for a few days, but then returns. I unzip and extract files frequently, using Windows Explorer, not a 3rd party application. Could there be a problem with that?

Also, I use Outlook frequently and notice it hanging quite a bit. Excel and Word hang also.

I have checked processes in task manager during times of hanging up and there is nothing unusual – no large process, no suspected malware (although I am not sure I would recognize it.). We run Malware Bytes and Vipre malware protection.

Initially I thought it was a network problem but the Windows Explorer hanging occurs also when accessing the C drive.

My computer is a Dell T1650 and has 32GB ram, 64 bit windows 7, and and Intel Xeon E3-1270 V2 @ 3.5 GHz

How is the health of your drive?

Under event viewer under system, do you have any disk related error codes?
